The Colca Valley is more than twice as deep as the Grand Canyon at 4160 m. The villages along the canyon are inhabited by people of the Collaguas and Cabanas cultures who maintain ancestral traditions and continue to farm the pre-Inca stepped terraces. At the bottom of the Canyon is an oasis with several tourist resorts.
