Los Campesinos Rural Tourism project can be found in the village of Quebrada Arroyo in the Savegre River Valley. In 1997, a fungus came through valley and wiped out all of the vanilla plantations in the area, which were their main source of income. As a result, the government helped the community fund this project as a way to bring money into the region through ecotourism. The project boasts a series of natural waterfalls, swimming holes, a hanging bridge through the rainforest, hiking trails, an open-air rancho for traditional meals and simple dorm-style accommodations. The project can be accessed by foot, horse or 4x4 vehicles.
